Ward
Dean, MD

Dr. Ward Dean graduated from the U.S. Military Academy
at West Point in 1967. As an infantry officer, he graduated from the
U.S. Army Airborne and Ranger schools, and later the Korean Ranger School.
He served as an instructor at the U.S. Army Mountain Ranger School in
north Georgia, and was an advisor to the Vietnamese Rangers on the Cambodian
border.
Upon graduating from Han Yang University College of
Medicine in Seoul, Korea, he returned to active duty in the Army and
trained at the Letterman Army Medical Center in San Francisco. He then
attended both the U.S. Army and Navy Flight Surgeon courses, and the
U.S. Navy and Canadian Diving Medical Officers Courses.

Dr. Dean spent seven years as an Army Flight Surgeon
and Diving Medical Officer, including three years as a member of the
Delta Force.
Dr. Dean was a Naval Flight Surgeon for 6 years in
Pensacola, Florida, where he retired as a commander in 1996. During
private practice between and after military stints, Dr. Dean pioneered
and practiced the now burgeoning field of anti-aging and life extension.
A world-renowned expert
in the anti-aging and life extension, Dr. Dean has served on the
Board of Directors of the American Aging Association and the founding
Board of Directors of the American Academy of Anti-Aging Medicine
(A4M), and was the first vice president of A4M. Dr. Dean organized
A4M’s first scientific program in Cancun, Mexico, as well
as the first two Monte Carlo Anti-Aging Conferences in Monaco.
He has written extensively on the biology of
aging and has authored or co-authored a number of books, including Biological Aging |

Dr. Dean has been Medical Editor of Vitamin
Research News and Director of Research and Development for Vitamin
Research Products since 1996. During this time, he focused on
the development of innovative nutritional and pharmacological
protocols designed to delay aging and ameliorate age-related
diseases.
These protocols employ a number
of anti-aging drugs and supplements including Metformin, cognitive
enhancing drugs and nutrients, the use of receptor sensitizers
and crosslinkage inhibitors, as well as recommendations for the
proper use and timing of hormone replacement therapy.

Dr. Dean has also spearheaded the
development of means to measure the physiological and biochemical
effects of aging, as described in his book, Biological Aging Measurement,
a compendium of aging measurement systems developed by researchers
around the world. The book was (and still is) the most comprehensive
compilation of biomarkers and aging measurement systems ever published.
